Linda Bausserman has been a member of the First Baptist Church in America since 1980. Originally from Virginia, she came to Rhode Island to complete a PhD in Biochemistry. She then pursued a career as a biomedical researcher at Brown University and the Miriam Hospital until she retired in 2004. She was called to be Associate Pastor here in September 2010. She is married to Dr. J Stanley Lemons, church historian and retired Professor of History at Rhode Island College. She has one daughter and two grandchildren.
Linda is a graduate of the two-year Shalom Program in Formative Spirituality and the two-year Spiritual Direction Certificate Program in the School of Spirituality at Mercy Center, Madison, CT. In addition to spiritual direction, she is experienced in leading prayer retreats and small groups on spiritual formation. Currently, there are two groups in the church meeting weekly for discussion of topics related to spiritual growth. She provides spiritual direction at no charge to church members and at a minimal sliding fee scale to others.
