250th Anniversary Celebration
Music featuring Minister of Music and Organist, Stephen Matorella; The Proteus String Quartet was founded by Dr. John Sumerlin at Rhode Island College; and the choir of First Baptist Church in America.
The choir sings Jonathan Sturm’s ‘We Built This House’ accompanied by the Proteus String Quartet and organ led by Minister of Music Stephen Martorella. The choir additionally sings John Milton’s poem ‘And As I Wake’ in a setting by Canadian composer Stephanie Martin. The final selection is by Rhode Island organist and composer Peter Fiore, who gave a recital here last July. Mr. Fiore graciously gifted his ‘Terribilis est Locus iste’ (How awesome is this place…based on the Gregorian chant of the same name) to Mr. Martorella last spring.
