Guns into Plowshares

On Mother’s Day in 2018, weapons were presented during the worship service. These weapons were then given to local artists who repurposed them into garden tools.

On December 14, the 6th anniversary of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School where 20 children, ages 6 and 7 and 6 adults were killed, Reverend Liz Lerner Maclay, Minister at First Unitarian and Reverend Jamie Washam, Minister at First Baptist Church in America dedicated these former weapons as garden tools to serve the needs of the marginalized.

Our tool will be dedicated at a Worship Service at First Baptist in America in the spring, before we begin the new gardening season.
